NLMK Pennsylvania's new Walking Beam Furnace project was the winner of a Building Excellence Award from the Master Builder's Association of Western Pennsylvania. The furnace was named best New Construction in the $50 to $100 million category. Bruce & Merrilees was the electrical contractor on the project, in partnership with STEVENS Engineers & Constructors, Inc. and McCarl's, LLC.

The Walking Beam Furnace efficiently produces high quality slab steel products for NLMK. The construction itself came with a variety of challenges, including extended material delivery delays, prompting the team to develop innovative solutions that would allow the project to meet its scheduled completion date.
