Bruce & Merrilees played a pivotal role in Virgnia's "Transform 66," a $3.7 billion public-private partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), and the privately held I-66 Express Mobility Partners. The project involved a 22-mile section of I-66, from the I-495 to Gainesville. B&M has spearheaded critical phases of the project's completion.

B&M began work on this project in October of 2018, under general contractor Ferrovial Allan Myers (FAM). The first stage of construction involved decommissioning and removing hardware such as ITS cabinets, CCTV cameras, and low-level and high-mast lighting. The team installed temporary duct bank and wiring, maintaining fiber communication and power to devices while the new infrastructure was under construction. Our team then installed permanent duct bank, bores and associated infrastructure for the final configuration.

The entire team worked hard to perform Safe work, recording zero incidents and more than a dozen Good Catches. They worked with integrity to provide a quality installation, refusing to cut corners to meet dates. This sometimes required team members to work weekends, or to share crews from other projects in order to complete the work. In the face of those challenges, everyone worked together as One Team to meet the completion dates. Meeting those critical completion dates made FAM a very satisfied customer.

While FAM is our customer, FAM is providing an end product to many different entities including VDOT, Dominion, NOVEC, Summit, Verizon, COX, and Windstream. FAM knows it can depend on our team to deliver Professional results and trusted us to install infrastructure for all of these entities, within their own specifications, with no rework required and full acceptance. "They know they can count on us," says B&M's Project Manager. "FAM respects us as a knowledgeable electrical contractor."
