B&M’s Transportation team is back at the Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) in Allentown, PA. Our team was part of a multi-phase project to resurface and improve an 8,000-ft. runway. James D. Morrissey, Inc. (JDM) was the General Contractor.
As the electrical subcontractor, Bruce & Merrilees installed new runway centerline lights and conduit in the existing pavement; several new runway and taxiway edge lights and guidance signs; and new ductbanks and electrical manholes to reroute various airfield electrical circuits. These improvements not only accommodated current construction at the airfield but will also service future development.
This is the third LVIA project that JDM has awarded to B&M. We have consistently performed beyond expectations, resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.
“JDM has been a consistent partner and returns to Bruce & Merrilees because of trust and the quality and performance of the work we have installed,” says the Project Manager. “On past projects, we have performed quality work ahead of schedule and supported the GC in their endeavors by keeping the airfield lighting systems operating – even when excavation and site work has necessitated the temporary or permanent relocation of the underground electrical infrastructure.”
The most recent phase involved significant change orders that involved relocating communications, power and lighting. Despite the expanded scope, our team completed its work ahead of the original schedule.
