WARREN, PA - There are a number of new features along Market Street in Warren and, in the long run, they will help motorists know which lane they should be in.

“It’s one of the things we’ve heard from the residents, it’s hard to see which lane to get into,” City of Warren Department of Public Works Director Mike Holtz said.

To assist motorists, there will be new overhead signs.

“One of the nice upgrades on Market Street is they’re going to put new poles and mast arms and they will install the directional arrows,” Holtz said.

“We’re going to put in new signing mast arms at Third, Fourth, and Fifth avenues,” Project Manager Ken Burnfield, of Bruce and Merrilees, said. Those arms will hang over each intersection for both the northbound and southbound lanes.

The black poles, with black arms, will be in place by the end of January — the project completion date.

Bruce and Merrilees is also making other upgrades.

“We were also doing signal equipment updates,” Burnfield said. “Traffic signal heads and pedestrian signal heads with new wiring. We also have some new, upgraded post-mounted signs in Warren and Conewango Township.”
